IDEA's Land and Home Project

The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association announces a new international arts initiative, the “Land and Home” project. The “Land and Home” project is open to all members of IDEA. The project’s focus is on the changing relationship between human beings and the land, their dwelling place. What are the issues and challenges we all face as we move into the twenty first century? To foster regional and international arts collaboration between a variety of populations and groups on this central theme, experienced artists, teachers, directors, film makers, choreographers, poets, musicians, and environmentalists who are interested in this topic are invited to develop opportunities for communities of people within their respective countries to express their hopes and concerns for the use of the land as it is manifested in their localities. The goal is to provide a means of expression to communities whose voices may not be heard through the global media and who may not usually express themselves through artistic means.

Our search is currently twofold. IDEA is seeking a few committed and experienced IDEA members who would be willing to serve on a Project’s Committee to help coordinate the work of implementing the project throughout it’s various stages. This Projects Committee will then help screen proposals from experienced arts practitioners who are committed to leading or coordinating projects centered on this theme within their individual countries. The goal would be to have at least two participating groups from each continent, and hopefully, from a variety of geographic areas and climates within those continents. The deadline for submission of project proposals is June 1st, 2014. Representative projects and performances will be brought to the IDEA World Congress in Turkey, where groups can present their work and interact with each other in a world forum. A Congress Forum is planned, open to all members who have participated in the project, in which participants will be able to dialogue with one another, sharing the results of their various projects.

To contact IDEA and find out more about the project, please join the Land and Home Facebook Group page, which you can reach via IDEA’s facebook page or email us at LandandHome2016@gmail.com. The official project proposal is available on IDEA’s website in all three of IDEA’s official languages as well as Chinese, and can be emailed as an attachment to IDEA members wishing to distribute it to its organization's members.
