When an arts educator is asked about their most important resource, more often than not, Theatre Books is going to be their answer. The Toronto fixture has been the source for finding plays, monologue books, biographies and any other resource on theatre, dance, opera and film. Since opening in 1975, teachers, artists and lovers of the arts have spent countless hours browsing the titles and leaving the store with a collection of books that they would be hardpressed to find anywhere else. For anyone who has attended the CODE Conferences in the past, you have most likely eagerly anticipated the opportunity to visit the Theatre Books booth and chat with the lovely owners, John and Leonard. Sadly, Theatre Books has announced that they will be closing, and although no set date has been announced, they have launched a closing sale giving everyone one last opportunity to get their hands on some incredible resources. On behalf of CODE, a huge thank-you to Theatre Books, John and Leonard for being wonderful ambassadors of the arts and arts education!
