Canadian Theatre Focus Course Profile
This course provides an in-depth exploration of Canadian theatre as a vehicle for drama development, theatrical presentation and actor training. Major movements in Canadian theatre history will allow students to analyze and use script work and improvisation in the development of theatre for political and entertainment purposes. Students will synthesize their knowledge in a culminating activity in which they will use the dramatic forms learned throughout the course to communicate their vision of Canadian culture and identity.

This resource offers instructional strategies, definitions and curriculum links to Canon, a choreographic form in which a dance phrase is performed by more than one soloist or group and begins at different times so that the phrases overlap.

Cloudland
Cloudland tells the story of a young boy named Albert who accidentally falls from a mountain and is rescued by the children of the clouds. Albert has wonderful adventures up in the clouds, but over time begins to miss his home. Through role playing, the students explore Albert’s dilemma and find ways to help him. This lesson is intended for primary students.
