Recently, the CODE Management Board met with representatives from the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Association of Ontario (FNMIEAO), whose mandate is to promote strong First Nations, Métis & Inuit Studies and Language education programs in schools and communities across Ontario.
Our discussion included recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission; methods for supporting educators in their efforts to address First Nations, Métis and Inuit content in their teaching; and ensuring that respect for knowledge-keeping remains central to our work. We also discussed future collaborations to provide professional development for arts-based educators in this area.
CODE is deeply honoured and excited about forging this partnership, and are beginning our own process of learning with the support of FNMIEAO.
We look forward to bringing you more news and annoucements in the months to come! In the meantime, learn more and get connected to the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Association of Ontario.
