CODE's Committees

  • Conference
    • usually multiple roles available including developing the call for presenters, contacting vendors, reviewing presenter applications, building the schedule, planning and scheduling promotional materials, managing volunteers or tech needs of presenters, etc.
    • meetings vary between once every few months to once a week depending on timelines, must be available during the conference (usually around the third weekend in October)
  • Equity
    • build relationships with community partners related to equity in drama and dance education, develop guidance documents, organize panels, conduct reviews of resources, etc.
    • meet once every few months (sometimes more often if a project is launching)
  • Social Media
    • create content, monitor social media platforms, develop innovative ways to connect with drama and dance educators
    • a new committee seeking individuals who have time weekly to dedicate to supporting this committee's work
  • Regional
    • Each region has its own regional committee chaired by the Regional Coordinator. (Find your region here).
    • building relationships with local drama and dance educators, developing initiatives to meet the needs of local educators
    • meet once every few months (sometimes more often if an initiative is launching.
  • Advocacy
    • Past President is always the Chair of the Advocacy Committee
    • advocacy is the responsibility of every board member and every member at large
    • there will be a call-out for specific projects and initiatives as they arise
    • self-educate about CODE's advocacy work here
    • please reach out to your Regional Coordinator or the current Past President with all ideas
  • French Content
    • identify needs of French-language teachers (i.e., immersion, Core, Francophone) in drama and dance
    • track translated and French-language resources and make recommendations for future translation
    • identify gaps in resources (i.e., number or variety of resources per panel in drama and dance) that are translated
    • make recommendations for future writing projects or initiatives undertaken by CODE
  • Outreach
    • identify needs of teachers new to drama and dance
    • create strategies/content to facilitate introduction to dance and drama learning
    • finding high quality free materials for all panels in drama (in English or French) and dance that educators can use for critical analysis or to understand glossary entries (e.g., video glossary of conventions)
  • Resource Review Committee
    • review resources with a specific objective (e.g., identifying equity concerns)
    • contribute minor revisions or make recommendations for major revisions
    • identifying gaps in resources (i.e., number or variety of resources per panel in drama and dance)
    • make recommendations for future writing projects commissioned by CODE
  • Webinar
    • create schedule of content, review applications for presenters, develop promotional materials
    • meet every few months (sometimes more often if a webinar is scheduled)
  • Pre-service
    • identify needs of pre-service teachers in drama and dance
    • make recommendations for pre-service outreach and events
    • identify gaps in resources (i.e., types or content of resources in drama and dance) for beginning teachers
    • support other committees to ensure pre-service voices are factoring into their planning and decisions
